The Hardware this Site is running on:We got an elderly Compaq Proliant 1500. This is a former High-End-Model of Compaq. As this Server is not state of the art anymore a Pentium 166 is used. There are 128 MB of ECC RAM and a fast and reliable RAID Disk-Subsystem. Five 4 GB Wide SCSI-Disks connected to a Smart-Array 2/P RAID-Controller guarantee for the performance and "security"(see Software) we need. This Disk are organized as a RAID5-Array with Hot-Spare Disk - a compromise between speed and disk-failure-protection. Finally the Box is connected to the Internet-Backbone with a 10 MBit Ethernet NIC |
Software:Of course we are running Linux (Kernel 2.4.X) on this Server. As a HTTP-Daemon Apache (hopefully the latest release) is used. Dynamic content is generated by php out of a mysql-database. |
